The itinerary goes through the old town. The heart of Modena since medieval age is Piazza Grande with its splendid Romanesque Cathedral dedicated to San Geminiano and its tall and elegant tower called Ghirlandina that is declared by UNESCO as World Heritage since 1997. In the square also there is the medieval town hall. Since 1598 Modena has also been the capital of the Este’s Duchy and a tangible proof of their power can still be read in the Ducal Palace, their residence for more than two centuries and now the residence of the Military Academy., a large square called Piazza Sant'Agostino is located at the western end of the Via Emilia and is the location of the Palace Museum. Anyway you will have a private tour guide who can customize the itinerary according to your interests.
Another itinerary suggested to those who are interested on exploring the capital of engines is to have a stop at the Museum Enzo Ferrari. It consists in a pavilion of over 2,500 square meters, nearby the historical workshop perfectly restored, where was used to work Enzo’s father. The location, however, that evokes the legend is Maranello, the center of production of these extraordinary cars. Just outside the town is located the Private Ferrari racetrack, the plant itself, the Ferrari gallery, and the wind tunnel, designed by Renzo Piano architect in order to study aerodynamics. Returning to Modena if it fits with time schedule it is possible to have a stop at the vintage cars museum Stanguellini and to the Maserati establishments. Most fans can ask to be dropped off at the Autodromo of Modena to book (if the track is available on the chosen day) some laps in a Ferrari. (Included in the price only the transport to racetrack).
